Warning: Sex Drugs and Rock & Roll!
A new novel by a Los Angeles author has just been released that will please fans of Daisy Jones and the Six and Almost Famous.
Multi-award-winning Lenswoman in Love – a novel of the 1960s & ‘70s provides an insider's view of the most colorful and creative decades of the twentieth century. It will resonate deeply with those who experienced those vibrant times - and anyone who wishes they had.
About the book:
Fearless young photographer Maddy Garfield shoots love-ins and police riots in the turbulent 1960s, and deals with bikers, rock stars, arrogant diplomats, egotistical actors, and enigmatic Rastas in the '70s. But every time she encounters charismatic-but-elusive director Jake Morgenstern, who gave her a mind-blowing first kiss, her desire grows, fueling her unfulfilled fantasies. When she finally works on a Western Jake's directing in Colorado, sparks fly, but her imperative to always “get the shot” jeopardizes her career and the life of the man she loves.
About the author:
A resident of legendary Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles, author Kim Gottlieb-Walker knows that world intimately. As a photographer Kim Gottlieb-Walker shot everything from classic rock and roll, reggae, and politics in the 60’s and 70’s to major motion pictures and television shows, including John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, CHEERS (for nine years) and FAMILY TIES (five years), and worked on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and The Next Generation, and Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories. Her coffee-table photo books "Bob Marley and the Golden Age of Reggae" and “On Set with John Carpenter,” published by Titan Books UK(Random House USA) are now in multiple printings, with editions in Japanese, Russian and French.
As director/rock journalist Cameron Crowe says: “It’s no surprise that Kim Gottlieb-Walker’s wonderful Lenswoman in Love is as soulful and true as her much-lauded work in photography. Gorgeous with detail and gloriously filled with heart and adventure, this is the literary equivalent of a great song with the kind of magic that lingers for days.”
And Steven Rea, author of the Hollywood Book Club says:
“…a rich evocation of another time— the Sixties and Seventies, from the West Coast to Swinging London— seen through the eyes of a passionate and talented young photographer. Her camera takes her inside recording studios and onto film sets, and her heart takes her on a journey of soulful self-discovery…
Lenswoman in Love is available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Bookshop.org as a paperback and ebook and can be ordered through any bookstore.
